Table 1 explains the headings and labels that are displayed in this section of the main storage dump.

Table 1. Headings in the ECB virtual memory (EVM)
Heading Description
ENTRY REFERENCED VIA R9 - DUMP OF ECB VIRTUAL MEMORY FOLLOWS FOR THREAD This heading indicates the beginning of the dump of the ECB virtual memory (EVM) for a thread that failed. In CTL dumps with no associated ECB, this section is omitted.
ENTRY REFERENCED VIA R9 - DUMP OF ECB VIRTUAL MEMORY FOLLOWS FOR MAIN THREAD This heading indicates the beginning of the dump of the failing ECB virtual memory (EVM) for the main thread that failed. The thread ID for the main thread is 0. In CTL dumps with no associated ECB, this section is omitted.
*ENTRY BLK, GENERATED BY CREM/CRED/CREX This heading identifies the particular type of ECB, based on the value of its format flag. The ECB is labeled throughout with dump labels used to identify specific fields.
ECB TRACE The ECB trace table is a collation of the macro and trace buffers of the ECB. It is displayed by the most recent entry first. See ECB trace table for a description of the headings in this section of the dump.
*DECB FRAME Indicates the ECB virtual address of the first data event control block (DECB) frame for this ECB.
*MSG BLK, LEVEL 0 Indicates that the input message block is displayed on level 0.
*DATA BLK, DECB Indicates that the DECB is being dumped.
*PROCESS BLOCK Indicates that the process block of the ECB is being dumped.
*NAME-VALUE PAIR AREA Indicates the name-value pair area of the ECB.
********* ASSOCIATED LINK MAP DATA Indicates the real-time program link map data.
*THREAD UNIQUE CONTROL AREA Indicates the thread unique control area.
*THREAD COMMON CONTROL AREA Indicates the thread common control area.
*STACK FRAME FUNCTION Indicates the stack frame and the function associated with it.
*INITIAL SYSTEM STACK FRAME Indicates the initial system stack frame.
*STATIC BLOCK Indicates the static block that is used by C language support.
*ECB HEAP TRACE The ECB heap trace table includes the following information:
  • The system virtual memory (SVM) address of the ECB that issued the ECB heap request.
  • The address of the ECB heap buffer that was allocated or released.
  • The address of the original ECB heap buffer. This applies only to RALOC, realloc, or realloc64 requests.
  • The address of the program that issued the ECB heap request.
  • The name of the program that issued the ECB heap request.
  • The size of the ECB heap buffer that was requested. For CALOC, calloc, and calloc64 requests, this is the element size. This field does not apply to FREEC or free requests.
  • The number of elements. This applies only to CALOC, calloc, and calloc64 requests.
  • The type of ECB heap request (MALOC, CALOC, RALOC, FREEC, calloc, calloc64, malloc, malloc64, realloc, realloc64, free).
  • The I-stream on which the request was made.
  • The time of the request.
  • The thread ID of the ECB that issued the ECB heap request.
*AVAILABLE HEAP STORAGE Indicates the heap storage that is not in use. When the dump program could not calculate the offset, the program address instead of the offset is displayed. When this condition occurs, the name of the program that is listed was obtained from the CE3TRNAM field at the time that the heap storage was acquired.
*IN USE HEAP STORAGE Indicates the in-use heap storage. When the dump program could not calculate the offset, the program address instead of the offset is displayed. When this condition occurs, the name of the program that is listed was obtained from the CE3TRNAM field at the time that the heap storage was acquired.
*RCT OWNED BY THIS ECB Indicates the ECB resource monitor's resource counter table for this ECB.
*RLT OWNED BY THIS ECB Indicates the ECB resource monitor's resource limit table for this ECB.
*GROUP ECBRM CONTROL BLOCK Indicates the control block that is associated with this ECB for group ECB resource monitoring.

The data and program blocks that are logically attached to the ECB are described in Table 2. The headings for the program blocks contain the name and version of the program, the name of the loadset in which the program was contained, and an indication of the allocation type. If the program is not contained in an E-type loader loadset, it is considered to be a base program and the word BASE is displayed. If the z/TPF system was not generated with support for tracking program versions, the program version is not displayed.

One of the following headings may also be displayed if a problem occurs while trying to dump a working storage block.

Table 2. Headings in the ECB virtual memory (EVM)
Heading Description
*INVALID BLOCK TYPE This heading is displayed when it is determined that the value of the block type on an ECB data level or DECB is not valid. An attempt is made to dump the data in the block using the address of the block as a starting point and continuing to the next 4-KB boundary. No data translation is attempted.
*INVALID BLOCK ADDRESS This heading is displayed when the block address on an ECB data level or DECB does not point to a valid z/TPF block. An attempt is made to dump the data in the block, using the address of the block as a starting point and continuing to the next 4-KB boundary. No data translation is attempted.
*INVALID FORMAT FLAG This heading appears when the value of the format flag contained in the storage block is not recognized by the postprocessor. Most often this is due to the fact that the storage reserved for the format flag in a particular storage block may occasionally be used by the z/TPF control program (CP) to store actual data. No data translation is attempted when this condition is encountered.
