Detecting IMS performance problems

You can monitor IMS regions to identify global lock conflicts and looping batch message processing regions, and automatically provision message regions to increase throughput.

You can use the OMEGAMON® for IMS product to set thresholds for input queue lengths. If the threshold is exceeded, the IBM Z® System Automation program can start additional message regions or change the defined LPAR capacity and number of CPUs.

When detected, OMEGAMON for IMS can send an event to IBM Z System Automation which can trigger the following actions:
  • Perform automated root cause analysis
  • Take policy based automated actions
  • Captures important status for presentation on the NetView console and on the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal.
