The Enhanced 3270 User Interface with Near-Term-History
displays helps you troubleshoot z/OS® resource
performance issues in real time.
IBM Z® Service Management Suite
3.1.x enables you to retrieve and
display system resource performance data for recent points in time. This functionality helps you
troubleshoot specific system resource performance issues related to Central Processing Complexes
(CPCs), LPARs, Workload Manager (WLM) service classes, address spaces and DASD devices.
The Z Service Management Suite component
products work together to collect and present performance data:
IBM Z System Automation manages the availability of z/OS
Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) III and Distributed Data Server for z/OS (DDS), which are required for resource monitoring.
OMEGAMON® collects Near-Term-History
performance-related data and writes messages into its RKLVLOG job log when Near-Term-History is
available.
IBM Z System Automation scans the OMEGAMON RKLVLOG for Near-Term-History related messages and displays a
green status to the operator that Near-Term-History data is available. Important messages are
captured and sent to the Status Display Facility and to the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal.
Operators and system programmers can scan the NetView® network log for related messages.

Enterprise Summary workspace to the historical workspaces for CPCs and LPARs. Figure 1. Viewing Near-Term-History data
