Detecting network problems
OMEGAMON® for Networks on z/OS works with System Automation and the NetView® programs to automatically collect diagnostic information when network problems occur.
You can use the OMEGAMON for Networks on z/OS product to detect session setup failures and response time problems.
When detected, OMEGAMON for Networks on z/OS can send
an event to IBM Z® System Automation which triggers the
following actions:
- Collects snapshot data
- Starts NetView TCPIP packet traces, stopping them after the problem is resolved or times out
- Writes NetView log messages
- Captures important messages for presentation on the NetView console and on the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal.
