Session failure component data flows
This chapter contains information on the procedure IBM Z Performance and Capacity Analytics uses to process session failure data from the NetView session monitor.
Session failures
Session failure can occur when a session starts or ends. These types of problems can cause session failures:
- The terminal and the application cannot agree on the terms for the communication (a bind failure).
- The network does not have any available route or resource to establish the communication.
- An explicit route is deactivated.
Session awareness data is reported by VTAM, processed by the NetView session monitor, written to SMF, and collected by IBM Z Performance and Capacity Analytics.
Note:
Session awareness data can be filtered by
VTAM; IBM Z Performance and Capacity Analytics does not collect the
filtered data.
