If a hang or wait occurs during IPL or early during system initialization, obtain a stand-alone dump, SYSLOG, and note the last message issued to the screen or log.

If a hang or wait occurs during IPL or early during system initialization, obtain a stand-alone dump, SYSLOG, and note the last message issued to the screen or log. The objectives for analyzing the output of a stand-alone dump are:
  • Gather symptom data.
  • Determine the state of the system.
  • Analyze the preceding system activity.
  • Find the failing module and component.
