Problems when using the RMF DDS
When trying to access performance data for HCM objects, you may run into problems with using the RMF DDS. The following messages may appear:
- HCM is not able to determine the RMF Distributed
Data Server (DDS).
Table 1. DDS problem handling (1) Problem reason User response The RMF DDS is not yet started. Start the RMF DDS. A wrong version of the RMF DDS is running or the DDS is running with an incorrect configuration. Ensure that the RMF DDS is the one for z/OS® 1.8 RMF. A wrong version of HCD is running. To use the new functions of z/OS 1.8 HCM, you must run z/OS 1.7 HCD with APAR OA14334. - The connection to the RMF Distributed Data Server
(DDS) failed.
Table 2. DDS problem handling (2) Problem reason User response The TCP/IP connection between HCM and DDS failed. Check your network authorization and authentication mechanisms, because these might block the communication. For example, the HCM workstation may not be allowed to access the required DDS port. This may be caused by a personal firewall or a network firewall.
