Priority Level
Use this panel to specify a priority level, which characterizes how to prioritize network traffic. Network traffic is prioritized by specifying a specific value for the IPv4 Type-of-Service (TOS), the IPv6 Traffic Class value or Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) field to be set in the outgoing IP packets.
IBM has supplied the entire set of IPv4 TOS values as described in RFC 791. You can add new priority levels to represent specific DSCP values as described in RFCs 2474 and 2475.
Before you begin, decide on the values and settings that you want to specify in the steps below.
Steps
- Type the name of this priority level.
- Optionally, type a description of this priority level.
- Indicate the DSCP value by selecting from the list or typing in a value.
You have completed this panel when you have specified in the steps above the values and settings that are required or that you want to have different from the defaults.
