Definitions of Command, Subcommand, and Parameter

Commands, subcommands, and parameters are terms that are used throughout this publication to refer to the contents of PPFA control statements. Form Definition Command Reference and Page Definition Command Reference describe these commands with all their applicable subcommands.

Commands

Commands are the major controls that compose form definitions and page definitions.

Subcommands

Subcommands are used to further define commands. The absence of subcommands means that the default values specified with those subcommands are used. Three command terms also appear as subcommand terms: FONT, OVERLAY, and SUPPRESSION. These subcommand terms further define other commands.

Parameters

You can specify parameters with subcommands or accept the defaults; valid entries and their defaults are shown in the command reference topics.
