IEA386I text
Explanation
Where text is:

hh.mm.ss TIMING STATUS
SYNCHRONIZATION MODE = mode
THIS SERVER IS A STRATUM n
CTN ID = ctnid [ETS ID = etsid (englishets)]
ETS Timing Precision = p
ETS ID = DPTP
THE STRATUM 1 NODE ID = cpcid
NUMBER OF TIMING LINKS = ll
optional text

In the message text:
- hh.mm.ss
- The hour (00-23), minute (00-59), and second (00-59) that the system issued this message.
- mode
- One of the following:
- STP
- ETR
- LOCAL
- n
- Stratum level
- ctnid
- Coordinated Timing Network (CTN) ID
etsid and englishets
- External Time Source (ETS) ID. STP timing mode can have the following ETS:
- CNTP - NTP (Network Timing Protocol) without PPS (Pulse Per Second)
- CNTX - NTP without PPS via secondary
- PPSN - NTP with PPS
- PPSX - NTP with PPS via secondary
- CPTP - PTP (Precision Time Protocol) without PPS
- CPTX - PTP without PPS via secondary
- PPPS - PTP with PPS
- PPPX - PTP with PPS via secondary
CMAN - Console manually set time
PRTF - PRT Update Failure
UNIN - Uninitialized. PRT not set
MRGE - Merging with another Stratum 1
zzzz - ETS ID is not valid
- **** - The ETS ID was unavailable at the time of the command
p - ETS level of timing precision
ETS = DPTP - Direct attachment using PTP
p
ETS level of timing precision
- 1 = Lowest level of ETS timing precision. You should change to a higher level of ETS timing precision, NTP or PTP.
- 2 = This level of ETS timing precision is acceptable, but it does not take advantage of the PPS (Pulse Per Second) signal to achieve an even higher level of timing precision. Financial and banking institutions should change to a higher level of timing precision.
- 3 = Current highest level of ETS timing precision. This level uses the PPS (Pulse Per Second) signal.
- U = The ETS has an unknown level of timing precision.
- cpcid
- CPC node ID of the stratum 1 server (tttttt.mmm.nnn.pp.ssssssssssss)
- ll
- The number of links, in decimal.
- optional text
- One or more of the following lines are issued:
- One of these optional lines can be issued, but only on the corresponding server type.
[THIS IS THE PREFERRED TIME SERVER] [THIS IS THE BACKUP TIME SERVER] [THIS IS THE ARBITER SERVER]
- If one of the three server type lines was issued, then one (or two) of the following lines might
be issued.
[THIS SERVER HAS NO LINK TO THE BACKUP TIME SERVER] [THIS SERVER HAS NO LINK TO THE PREFERRED TIME SERVER] [THIS SERVER HAS NO LINK TO THE ARBITER SERVER]
- If one of the three server type lines was issued, then one (or two) of these lines might be
issued.
[THIS STP NETWORK HAS NO BACKUP TIME SERVER] [THIS STP NETWORK HAS NO SERVER TO ACT AS ARBITER]
- The following two optional lines are never issued on the active Primary Stratum 1 or active
Alternate Stratum 1 servers.
[THIS SERVER HAS ONLY A SINGLE SOURCE OF TIMING SIGNALS] [NUMBER OF USABLE TIMING LINKS = ll
- This optional line is only issued on a Primary S1 or Alternate S1.
[THERE IS ONLY ONE LINK BETWEEN THE PREFERRED AND BACKUP TIME SERVER]
- This optional line is issued if only one physical timing link which is usable as a source of
time.
[THIS SERVER HAS ONLY ONE USABLE PHYSICAL TIMING LINK AVAILABLE] [NUMBER OF USABLE TIMING LINKS]
Note: The[NUMBER OF USABLE TIMING LINKS]
includes any virtual links defined. As such, it is possible for this optional line to be issued even if the number of usable timing links is greater than one. - One of these optional lines might be issued instead of any of the other optional lines.
[STP DATA NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. TRY AGAIN LATER] [THE STP FACILITY IS NOT AVAILABLE]
- This optional line is issued if the I/O Configuration Control Authority (CCA) has not been
enabled for the LPAR:
[CONFIGURATION REDUNDANCY CHECKING NOT POSSIBLE FROM THIS LPAR]
- This optional line is issued if STP link information could not be obtained:
[STP DATA NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. TRY AGAIN LATER]
- This optional line is issued if STP mode was requested but the system is running in LOCAL
synchronization mode:
[THE STP FACILITY IS NOT AVAILABLE]
If the ETS is one of the PTP ETS IDs, then the following optional line is issued:
where xxxxxx.xxxx.xxxxxx is a unique clock identifier for the PTP Grandmaster ID. It is constructed from the MAC address of the clock device, and it is also displayed on the STP panels on the SE/HMC.PTP Grandmaster ID = xxxxxx.xxxx.xxxxxx
- One of these optional lines can be issued, but only on the corresponding server type.
