Abstract for Resource Measurement Facility Data Gatherer Programmer's Guide

Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) is a performance management tool that measures selected areas of z/OS® system activity and presents the data collected in the form of System Management Facility (SMF) records, formatted printed reports, or formatted display reports. You can use this data to evaluate system performance and identify reasons for performance problems.

This document contains information and reference material to enable you to use RMF data for application programming. There are many ways to access different kinds of information, and each one is described separately.

Further processing of RMF report data can also be done using spreadsheets. The Spreadsheet Reporter is described in z/OS RMF Reporter User's Guide.

Who should read this information

This information is intended for use by system programmers responsible for the development of individual, installation-specific applications in the area of gathering system measurement data. Because RMF is a tool for measuring z/OS system performance, this publication assumes that the reader has extensive knowledge of the z/OS system.

For an overview of RMF, and guidance on using the standard capabilities of the product, see z/OS RMF Reporter User's Guide.
