Summary of changes for z/OS Version 2 Release 3 (V2R3)

The following changes are made for z/OS® Version 2 Release 3 (V2R3).

New

  • The ALLOWUSERKEYCADS and NUCLABEL parameters have been added to the DIAGxx member for APAR OA53355. See DIAGxx (control common storage tracking and GFS trace).
  • The RUCSA parameter has been added to the IEASYSxx member for APAR OA56180. See RUCSA.
  • The ICSF and ICSFPROC system parameters have been added to the IEASYSxx member for APAR OA55378. See ICSF and ICSFPROC for information.
  • The DEVSUPxx member of parmlib has a new keyword, FLASHCOPYTOXRC, which controls support for Remote Pair FlashCopy® in an XRC environment. See DEVSUPxx (device support options).
  • The OSPROTECT system parameter has been added to the IEASYSxx member for APAR OA54807. See System parameter OSPROTECT for information.
  • For APAR OA50653, the IECIOSxx parmlib member has a new ZHYPERLINK statement. See IECIOSxx (I/O related parameters).
  • For APAR OA53660, updates to Syntax format of FXEPRMxx, Statements and parameters for FXEPRMxx, and FXE.
  • IGDSMSxx has a new optional keyword, TVSAMCOM, to enable DFSMStvs automatic commit and specify the minimum and the maximum for a range of number of update requests that DFSMStvs uses.
  • The new parmlib member, IRRPRMxx (RACF parameters), was added to allow the RACF® data set name table (ICHRDSNT) and the database range table (ICHRRNG) to be specified in the SYS1.PARMLIB member.
  • BPXPRMxx (z/OS UNIX System Services parameters) was updated:
    • To support the ability to unmount the version file system if it is no longer being used in the sysplex, the VERSION statement was updated. It has an optional version auto-unmount attribute keyword that can be set to UNMOUNT or NOUNMOUNT.
    • The SC_EXITTABLE statement was added. It enables pre-system call and post-system call exit routines for select z/OS UNIX callable services.
    • The USS_SUPERUSER health check can be used to verify that the SUPERUSER parameter contains a user ID that is defined to the security product and has an OMVS segment with a UID of 0.
    • The new UMASK statement of the BPXPRMxx parmlib member can be used to assign a default umask value for all z/OS UNIX users. It lists the disallowed permission settings of files and directories that are created by users or processes.
  • Syntax format of DEVSUPxx and Statements and parameters for DEVSUPxx are updated with a new parameter, ICKDSF_VERIFYOFFLINE=.
  • IBM-supplied defaults for DEVSUPxx and Statements and parameters for DEVSUPxx are updated with information on enabling or disabling the AOM496I status message for transparent cloud tiering operations.
  • New parmlib member, FXEPRMxx (IBM Function Registry for z/OS).
  • The IECIOSxx parmlib member has a new XPAV parameter on the HYPERPAV statement. See HYPERPAV.
  • IEASYSxx has a new system parameter IZU to identify one or more IZUPRMxx parmlib members to be used for your z/OSMF configuration. See IZU.
  • IEAOPTxx (OPT parameters) parmlib member has new parameters:
    • ABSMSUCAPPING, which specifies when a defined capacity limit or group capacity limit is to be enforced.
    • WLMIRDSTRUC, which enables WLM to connect to a WLM IRD structure with a 4-digit or 5-digit name of the CPU number.
  • The IKJTSOxx parmlib member has a new USERIDMAX parameter. See IKJTSOxx (TSO/E commands and programs).
  • The LOADxx parmlib member now allows you to specify new value GSF on the MACHMIG parameter to specify that you do not wish z/OS to use the Guarded-Storage Facility at this time. See Statements and parameters for LOADxx.
  • The IXGCNFxx parmlib member has new parameters, USEOFFLOADMIN and USESTAGINGMIN, in the MANAGE specification. See Syntax format of IXGCNFxx and Statements and parameters for IXGCNFxx.
  • The VATLSTxx parmlib member has a new keyword, FLASHCOPYTOXRC, on the VATDEF statement. See VATLSTxx (volume attribute list).
  • A new example explaining how to include private storage of XMEMT ASIDs that have an active cross-memory relationship with originally requested, non-exempt target ASIDs is added to Statements and parameters for IEADMCxx.
