Query support

The OSA-Express direct SNMP subagent provides access to OSA-Express management information bases (MIBs) without OSA/SF, which is required when accessing OSA SNMP data through the Communications Server TCP/IP subagent. If you are running z/OS or Linux on z Systems, you can access the OSA-Express direct SNMP subagent. The OSA-Express direct SNMP subagent only communicates with OSD (QDIO) CHPIDs. Starting in z/OS V1.6, Direct SNMP supports OSE (non-QDIO) CHPIDs and OSD (QDIO) CHPIDs. For OSA-Express features defined as OSE (non-QDIO) CHPIDs, you can also use the CS TCP/IP SNMP subagent described in Set up the Communications Server SNMP TCP/IP subagent. CHPID types OSX and OSM are also supported. For earlier releases of z/OS, the CS TCP/IP SNMP subagent provides the only access to OSA-Express MIBs.

The OSA-Express MIB support consists of:
  • Channel, Performance, and PE tables for all OSA-Express2, OSA-Express3, OSA-Express4S, and OSA-Express5S features
  • OSA-Express Ethernet Port table for 1000BASE-T and Gigabit Ethernet
  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet Port table.
