This appendix lists the related protocol specifications
(RFCs) for TCP/IP. The Internet Protocol suite is still evolving through
requests for comments (RFC). New protocols are being designed and
implemented by researchers and are brought to the attention of the
Internet community in the form of RFCs. Some of these protocols are
so useful that they become recommended protocols. That is, all future
implementations for TCP/IP are recommended to implement these particular
functions or protocols. These become the de facto standards, on which the TCP/IP protocol suite is built.
You can request RFCs through electronic mail, from the automated
Network Information Center (NIC) mail server, by sending a message
to service@nic.ddn.mil with a subject line of RFC nnnn for text versions or
a subject line of RFC nnnn.PS for PostScript versions. To request
a copy of the RFC index, send a message with a subject line of RFC INDEX.
For more information, contact nic@nic.ddn.mil or at: Government Systems, Inc.

Hard copies of all RFCs are available
from the NIC, either individually or by subscription. Online copies
are available at the following Web address: http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc.html.
Draft RFCs that have been implemented in this and previous
Communications Server releases are listed at the end of this topic.
