HCM considers a CTC connection as a single entity comprising selected
control units and I/O devices connected to the CHPIDs.
- Select CTC connection... from the Create menu. This
opens the Create CTC Connection dialog.
- Click the CTC or FC CHPID button, and from the emerging Select
CHPID for CTC connection dialog, double-click on the + sign besides
PROC1, then select PROC1.20 S CTC SHR and finally press OK.
Even though the CHPIDs are connected to switch ports, we select the
CHPIDs that are to be connected. Click the second CNC/FCV or FC
CHPID button and select PROC2.21 CNC SHR.
- Click OK in the Create CTC Connection dialog. The Edit
CTC Connection dialog appears to allow you to define the control
units that are part of the connection.
- Click the Add New... button on the left-hand side to create
the control units and devices that are connected to PROC1.20 CTC to
represent the images available via PROC2.21 CNC.
- Enter control unit number 4110 to represent LPAR11 and control
unit number 4120 to represent LPAR12. Leave the other controls as
they appear and click OK. This creates control unit 4110 CTC
with devices 4110,4 CTC and control unit 4120 CTC and devices 4120,4
CTC and connect them to CHPID PROC1.20 CTC to represent the two partitions.
- Click the Add New… button on the right-hand side of
the Edit CTC Connection dialog to create the control unit and
devices that are connected to PROC2.21 CNC to represent the images
available via PROC1.20 CTC.
- Enter control unit numbers 5110 to represent the image and click OK.
The Edit CTC Connection dialog appears again as follows:
This dialog shows that the connection is fully specified
with all images duly represented by control units.
- Close the Edit CTC Connection dialog and choose CTC
connections... from the Edit menu to open the CTC Connections dialog.
The connection between PROC1.20 CTC and PROC2.21 CNC appear
in the dialog.
- Select the entry in the list box and click Details... to
open the View CTC Connection Details dialog.
- This gives another view of the connection. The partition image
LPAR11 on PROC1 can communicate with partitions LPAR21 and LPAR22
on PROC2.
- Click Cancel to return to the CTC Connections dialog.
