Introduction to DB2 for z/OS

An index space is a DB2® storage structure that contains a single index.

Start of changeWhen you create an index by using the CREATE INDEX statement, an index space is automatically defined in the same database as the table. You can define a unique name for the index space, or DB2 can derive a unique name for you. Under certain circumstances, DB2 implicitly creates index spaces.End of change
