New features & enhancements in version 1.6.2, July 2026
Review the summary of changes in IBM Z® Resource Discovery Data Service version 1.6.2 release.
Summary of changes
- Run containerized discovery services directly on z/OS
- You can now deploy IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service on IBM® Container Extensions (zCX) to run containerized services directly within your z/OS environment. This helps you simplify deployment and management by eliminating the need for a separate Linux server.
- Prevent duplicate Kafka messages after PostgreSQL upgrades
- You can now clear IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service Kafka topics after upgrading PostgreSQL. This helps you avoid duplicate Kafka messages and maintain more reliable data processing after an upgrade.
- Simplify migration to supported ServiceNow fields
- You can now migrate data from deprecated custom columns in IBM Mainframe, IBM Mainframe LPAR, and IBM z/OS Server classes to standard ServiceNow fields or the Additional Fields section. This helps you preserve existing data while aligning with supported ServiceNow data structures.
- View discovered IP addresses in ServiceNow
- You can now synchronize IP address information for discovered resources with ServiceNow. This enables IP addresses to appear in ServiceNow records.
- Discover and visualize storage subsystem relationships
- You can now discover Storage Subsystem configuration items (CIs) and view their relationships in ServiceNow. This helps you better understand your storage environment and how it connects to other resources.
- Stay current with the latest OrientDB version
- You can now use IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service with OrientDB version 3.2.53.
- Maintain compatibility with IBM Z Operational Analytics updates
- You can now use IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service with IBM Z Operational Analytics Common Fix Pack Version 25.
- Reduce unnecessary Kafka traffic during upgrades
- You can now upgrade from version 1.6.0 to version 1.6.2 without publishing unnecessary data to Kafka. This helps reduce message traffic and streamlines upgrade processing.
- Automatically clean up processed IDML books
- You can now benefit from improved cleanup of processed IDML books, along with a scheduled cleanup process that runs as a fallback.
- Complete discovery operations faster
- You can now perform discovery operations more efficiently with reduced processing times and increased throughput. This helps you discover resources faster and handle larger workloads more effectively.
- Improve the accuracy of discovery data
- You can now benefit from improved IDML book parsing for more accurate and reliable extraction of discovery data. This helps improve the quality of your discovery results.
- Troubleshoot discovery issues more easily
- You can now work with clearer and more consistent diagnostic logs during discovery and synchronization operations. This makes it easier to track processing activity and identify issues when troubleshooting.
