Prerequisites
Before you install and run IBM Z® Resource Discovery Data Service (ZRD-DS), the following prerequisites must be met.
Hardware architectures
The following two different 64-bit hardware architectures are supported:
- s390x
- amd64 / x86_64
Supported operating systems
IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service must be run on
Linux or on IBM Z Container Extensions (zCX). The following Linux distributions are supported:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux v8 and v9
- Ubuntu 18.04 (zCX only), 20.04, 22.0.4 and 24.04
Container runtime environments
You can install Data Service into one of the following container runtime environments:
- Docker Community Edition v20 or later
- Podman v4 or later
IBM Discovery Library Adapter for z/OS output
Before you run Data Service, you must get IBM® Discovery Library Adapter for z/OS® output.
IBM Z Resource Discovery Data Service (ZRD-DS) gathers
mainframe data from IBM Discovery Library Adapter for z/OS (z/OS DLA) output
(IdML books in XML format). For more information about installation and configuring z/OS DLA, see zDLA user guide.
Note: For the z/OS
DLA version, at a minimum you need the PTF: UJ06027 To avoid all known problems, apply UJ06027 and
all PTFs that are available since UJ06027. This includes currency fixes for z/OS and the discovered subsystems.
