Determining the CPU serial number
To determine the serial number of a specific mainframe, you must have authorization to issue z/OS® commands. The command can be issued from the operator console or from a product such as System Display and Search Facility (SDSF).
Changing the CPU serial number
When the processor CPU serial number (also known as CPU ID) is changed, and zDMF is started with a zDMF database that was previously in use under the old CPU ID, the database might contain an obsolete Host entry for the old CPU ID. This condition is indicated by message GZD1753S. The zDMF server fails in initialization.
