Installing and configuring Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer
If you need to monitor your IMS subsystem, Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer (IMS Data Producer ) must be installed and configured into all
IMS Connect and IMS regions that require monitoring. The IMS Data Producer is a component of IBM Z® APM Connect that runs inside the IMS Connect and IMS
region and sends events to Z APM Connect Base address
space, which forwards events to AppDynamics Controller.
Installing Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer
For every IMS region and IMS Connect to be monitored, you need to install an IMS Data Producer .
Configuring Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer
The default environment can satisfy the requirements to support IMS tracking. However, if the subsystem name for the Z APM Connect Base is not the default name AGMZ, you are required to configure the IMS Data Producer .
Instrumenting application environment
Depending on your IMS application usage, there are a few ways to instrument your application environment to pass AppDynamics Singularity Header to track IMS transactions via Z APM Connect.
Optional IMS Connect user message exit
Optional IMS TM resource adapter plug-in support
Install the IMS TM resource adapter plug-in in the WebSphere® Application Server to monitor the transactions when they enter IMS Connect through the IMS Connect client, IMS TM resource adapter, and flow from IMS Connect to IMS Transaction Manager (IMS TM).
Optional IMS MQ Bridge Configuration
To track IMS MQ transactions, Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer requires a tracking token to be passed in a MQRFH2 header. The MQRFH2 Version 2 is an extensible header, it can carry additional information that is not directly associated with JMS.
