Who Receives Messages

Z System Automation messages are received by automation operators and notification operators. Automation operators are automated operator tasks or autotasks that can respond to operating system, subsystem, and network messages without requiring a human operator.

Notification operators are NetView operators who receive Z System Automation notification messages, or messages about actions Z System Automation either detects or takes. Notification messages are routed to one or more assigned, logged-on operators. Notification operators can be defined the following ways:

Using the Operator Notification panel in the customization dialogs. Refer to IBM Z® System Automation Defining Automation Policy for further information on how to use the customization dialogs.
Using the INGNTFY command. Refer to IBM Z System Automation User's Guide for more information on how to use the INGNTFY command.
