Starting the Web Application

To access the NetView® web server, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the following web address, where Web_application_server:port is the TCP host name and port number of the HTTPS server on which the NetView web application is installed, netview is the NetView web application context root, and domain_ID is the domain ID of the NetView for z/OS® program to which you want to connect. The default port number is 9043 for a secure connection using WebSphere® Application Server and 9943 for a secure connection using the embedded version of the IBM® WebSphere Application Server.
    https://Web_application_server:port/netview/domain_ID/
  2. In the web application sign-on view that is displayed, type a valid NetView operator ID (user name) and password or password phrase and click OK. The ID and password or password phrase are verified and cached on the web application server for the remainder of the session.
When you enter a valid operator ID and password or password phrase, the web application opens by default with the Welcome information displayed in the work area.
Note:
  1. You can configure the initial task or information that is displayed in the web application; see IBM Tivoli® NetView for z/OS Installation: Configuring Additional Components.
  2. Do not open multiple web browsers that connect to the same NetView domain using the same user ID.

The portfolio, which is on the left side, lists the tasks that you can do using the web application. When you click a task in the portfolio, the task is displayed either in the work area, which is on the right side, or in a new window. For more information about the parts of the web application, see Navigating the Web Application.
