Enabling static tracing for the Log Forwarder
For the Log Forwarder, you can enable static tracing by using the logging configuration file.
About this task
The trace settings in the logging configuration file are applied each time that the Log Forwarder is started. The logging configuration file is named logging.properties. If you do not want to restart the Log Forwarder to enable tracing, use the MVS MODIFY command to enable dynamic tracing.
The Log Forwarder initially searches for and loads the logging.properties file in the Log Forwarder working directory CDP_HOME. If the logging.properties file is not found in CDP_HOME, the Log Forwarder then retrieves the logging configuration file from the following path: /usr/lpp/IBM/zcdp/v5r1m0/LF/samples/logging.properties.
Procedure
To enable static tracing, complete the following steps:
- Copy the logging.properties file from the samples directory to the Log Forwarder working directory CDP_HOME.
- Edit the logging.properties file as instructed by IBM® Software Support.
- Restart the Log Forwarder.
What to do next
When the trace settings are no longer needed, remove the copy of the logging.properties file from the Log Forwarder working directory or recover the logging configuration file to its original contents.
