Upgrading from 5.1.1.10 or 5.1.1.11 to the latest fix pack

Follow the instructions in this section to upgrade the Z Data Analytics Platform and the common services from 5.1.1.10 or 5.1.1.11 to the latest fix pack.

About this task

To upgrade the Z Data Analytics Platform and the common services from 5.1.1.10 or 5.1.1.11 to the latest fix pack, you can follow the steps below to install the latest fix pack on top of the installed instance:
  1. Install prerequisite software.
  2. Install and configure the software containers.
Note: When you upgrade from Z Operational Log and Data Analytics 5.1.x.11 or earlier, the installed version of the Keycloak authentication service must be replaced with a later Keycloak version. The databases that are embedded in the old and new Keycloak versions are not compatible with each other. Therefore, the configuration and user data that is stored in the embedded database must be migrated during the product upgrade.

When you apply Z Operational Log and Data Analytics 5.1.x.13 or later, the deployment scripts for Docker and Podman automatically check for the existence of an older version of the Keycloak authentication service. If an older version is found, the deployment script automatically uses it to export its configuration and user data. After the installation of the new Keycloak version completes, the deployment script automatically imports the exported data into the new instance. This process does not require any user input or intervention.

Important: Automatic configuration and user data migration only works if you complete an in-place upgrade of the OCI software container images. If you first uninstall Z Operational Log and Data Analytics, and then reinstall it by using 5.1.x.13 or later, data migration is not possible.
Restriction: A direct upgrade from fix packs earlier than 5.1.x.10 to 5.1.x.13 or later is not supported. If you have a fix pack level that is earlier than 5.1.x.10, you must first upgrade to 5.1.x.10, and then upgrade to 5.1.x.13 or later. For more information, see Upgrading to 5.1.1.10 or 5.1.1.11
