Evaluating Db2 system performance using system assessments

Evaluating Db2 system performance and health is a key aspect of using IBM® Z Database Assistant.

Before you begin

About this task

Db2 applies rules and domain expertise to evaluate Db2 for system anomalies and then displays them in priority order and provides recommended actions for you to take.

After you configure IBM Z Database Assistant for Db2 system assessments, you can begin monitoring for exception situations and take action on the provided recommendations.

Procedure

To view assessments and assessment statuses:

  1. From the Manage connections page, you can see the status of the last Db2 system assessment at the bottom of each connection tile.
  2. From the Global overview page, click the connection for which you want to see the Db2 system assessment data.
  3. Click the System assessment tab.

Results

The System assessment page shows a table where each row contains the results of a particular assessment (indicated by the Assessment ID).
The status of the evaluated subsystems is indicated by the color of the icons in the subsystem column:
  • Red icon - indicates that there are critical exceptions to be reviewed.
  • Yellow icon - indicates that there are exceptions for which there are highly recommended actions to be taken.
  • Blue icon - indicates that there are exceptions for which there are nice-to-address recommendations.
  • No icon - indicates that there are no exceptions.

On-demand assessments show "userid through Assessment on Demand" in the Started by column.
