Software requirements for installing IBM Z Database Assistant

IBM® Z Database Assistant has specific hardware, software, network, security, and license requirements. These requirements can vary depending on the components that you choose to include in your implementation of IBM Z Database Assistant. Ensure that your system meets all the requirements before you start to install and configure IBM Z Database Assistant.

Common requirements

The LPAR on which you install IBM Z Database Assistant must meet the following software requirements:

IBM z/OS® 3.1 or later.
- For z/OS 3.2, you need the following maintenance:
  - UJ98023
  - UO04849
  - UO04938
- For z/OS 3.1, you need the following maintenance:
  - UI94523
  - UI95833
  - UJ98024
  - UO04851
  - UO04934
Db2® 13 for z/OS at function level V13R1M100 or later
IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS (5655-JB1, FMID HJVBL00) Version 21 Release 0 or later

Requirements for Db2 for z/OS target systems

Db2 for z/OS target systems must be Db2 13 for z/OS (either 5698-DB2 or 5698-DBV) at function level V13R1M100 or later with the following maintenance applied:

Db2 13 for z/OS (either 5698-DB2 or 5698-DBV) at function level V13R1M100 or later with the following maintenance applied:
- APAR PH52152
- APAR PH70037
Additionally, Resource Recovery Services (RRS) must be implemented on your target Db2 systems. For more information, see Implementing RRS.

Notes:

Required maintenance must be applied on all members of a Db2 data sharing group.
You must complete the dynamic enablement by updating the IFAPRDxx PARMLIB member and issuing the SET PROD=(xx) operator command per section 6.1.9 of the Program Directory.

Tip: You do not need to apply Db2 maintenance against the metadata Db2 if the metadata Db2 is used only to store metadata and not Db2 target data.

Requirements for IMS target systems

The following items are required:

IMS 15.1 or later
Common Service Layer (CSL)
Operations Manager (OM)
IMS Connect
RACF PassTickets
Db2 13 for z/OS

For any target systems that you connect to by using IBM Z Database Assistant, you must have the authority to set up RACF PassTickets and APPL IDs. For more information, see Using RACF PassTickets and IMS Connect support for RACF PassTicket.

The following components are not required but recommended. If you do not install them, some IMS operations in IBM Z Database Assistant will not be available.

Requirements for Assistant chat support

To enable the Assistant chat support of IBM Z Database Assistant, you need the following products and components:

watsonx™ requirements

IBM watsonx Assistant™ for Z 3.2 or later and its inference stack, which includes AI Optimizer for Z and Spyre.
A watsonx Deployment Space ID or Project ID or IFM-lite enabled in your environment

Db2 requirements

Db2 13 for z/OS
Python support for Db2 for z/OS. Db2 for z/OS Agent is a Python application.
