Exploring IMS databases

Use the IBM® Z Database Assistant Overview page or the Object explorer page to display information about the IMS databases that you are connected to.

To view IMS system and database status:

1. From the Overview page, select an IMS system from the left navigation, and check the status of the databases in that system.
2. To see more information about a database, select it and click the Object explorer tab.
   You can view information about objects such as:

   • Database definitions (DBDs)
   • Program specification blocks (PSBs)
   • Program control blocks (PCBs)
   • Segments
   • Fields

   Tip: Ask the Assistant about IMS databases, how they are defined, and other database objects. You can also run commands from the Command processor page to get more information about database status.
