Connecting to Db2 subsystems

Before you can use the features of IBM® Z Database Assistant, you must connect to the Db2® for z/OS® subsystem or subsystems that you want to work with.

Procedure

  1. Log in to IBM Z Database Assistant.
    The Connections page is displayed.
  2. Click Create connection.
  3. Select Db2 as the connection type and click Next.
  4. Specify the following properties for the connection:
    Connection name
    A unique name to identify this connection.
    Connection description
    A brief description of the connection purpose or usage.
    APPLNAME
    The application name used to identify the connection to Db2.
    Scheduler ID
    The ID for the scheduler managing this connection.
    Host
    The hostname or IP address of the Db2 subsystem.
    Port
    The port number for connecting to the Db2 subsystem.
    Location
    The Db2 location name for the subsystem.
    Additional JDBC properties
    Optional. Additional Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) properties for the connection.
  5. Click Create connection.
    The Manage connections page opens. The connection that you created is displayed in the Db2 connections section of the page.
  6. If you intend to use the Assistant chat, open the Db2 agent tab and click Explore on demand to scan the catalog tables, metrics tables, and Db2 Analytics Accelerator tables that the Assistant chat might need to access during a chat session.
