Using the interface to IBM z/OS Data Set Mobility Facility
Now that you have completed the installation, you are ready to begin the analysis of your data and generate the JCL and control cards for IBM z/OS Data Set Mobility Facility.
The first step is to run DCOLLECT to gather information about your data sets that are used in conjunction with the data already collected from SMF and your scheduler in IBM Z® Backup Resiliency. A sample DCOLLECT job is included in CNTL(IZBRDCOL).
This DCOLLECT job, as distributed, is just a sample. There are other options and parameters that you may want to use to enable the DCOLLECT to run more efficiently in your environment. As distributed, this job selects all DASD volumes. You may want to use the STORAGEGROUP parameter to select specific storage groups.
If you have already run DCOLLECT and have a file that contains 'D' records you can use that file as input to this process.
You are now ready to run the analysis job to generate the control cards and the JCL.
