About Tasks and User and Business Calendars
IBM webMethods Designer and IBM My webMethods Serversupport the use of business and personal user calendars to assist with task definition and behavior. Both business and user calendars are set up and configured in IBM My webMethods Server; for more information, see the PDF publication IBM webMethods Task Engine User’s Guide.
- Business calendars define
standard business days and hours for your business organization, including
holidays, weekends, or any other times when your organization is not conducting
business. For example, you might define your business calendar for normal
business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern
Standard time.
These business calendars are defined in IBM My webMethods Server and can be specified when you define a task date/time event type, for example. This ensures that when counting days, only business days will be considered and that non-business days such as weekends and holidays are not included.
Note: You can create as many business calendars as you want; for example, it is possible to create a business calendar for each user in your system, assigning each business calendar an alias equal to the user ID or domain name to aid in lookup. - User calendars are maintained in a third-party application such as Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes, where the user maintains daily calendar events that define the user's availability. This enables you to determine if the user is available on a particular working day, taking into consideration only Out of the Office and Busy types of calendar events that are scheduled for the entire day.
