Assigning roles to users in Data Virtualization

IBM® Software Hub users that need to use Data Virtualization functions must be assigned specific Data Virtualization roles based on their job description.

Before you begin

Ensure you review user naming rules, see User, user ID and group naming rules.

Required role: To assign a Data Virtualization role to an existing IBM Software Hub user, you must be a Manager. For more information, see Data Virtualization roles.

About this task

Note:
  • You assign Data Virtualization roles within the Data Virtualization service, not as part of the Identity Management Service (IAM) on IBM Cloud.
  • You can assign Data Virtualization roles directly to individual users only. You cannot assign Data Virtualization roles to IAM access groups.

Procedure

  1. On the navigation menu, click Data > Data virtualization to reveal the service menu.
  2. On the service menu, click Administration > User management .
    The User management page appears.
  3. Click Grant access to assign Data Virtualization roles to IBM Software Hub users.
  4. Enter a valid IBMid for the user to create and select a role for the user.
    A user must have a valid IBMid to log in to the console.
  5. Click Create.
