Modifying custom properties, relationships, and custom asset types

After custom properties, relationships, and asset types are saved, you can access them in the same place where you created them. Select Administration > Configuration and settings from the navigation menu and open Asset and artifact definitions.

Important: When you modify the definition of a property or relationship, which are already in use by governance artifacts, these governance artifacts are affected. For example, when you delete a predefined value in the property definition, that value is deleted from all artifacts that use it. When you delete an artifact type from the source or target of a relationship, and this type was already used in a relationship, these relationships are deleted.

Edit mode for custom properties

When viewing governance artifacts, you can now switch on the editor mode for custom properties. When the Edit values toggle is switched off in the Details section, you can only see those custom properties for which values were definded for the artifact. Switch the editor mode on, and you can see all available custom properties and edit their values.

Restricting custom properties to specific catalogs

You can restrict custom properties for assets to a specific catalog by creating a special group.

  1. Select Administration > Configuration and settings from the navigation menu and open Asset and artifact definitions.

  2. Select Manage asset and artifact definitions > Custom properties and click the Assets tab.

  3. From the assets list, click the asset for which you want to restrict custom properties to a specific catalog.

  4. From the pane on the left, click Customize.

  5. Create or select an existing group:

    • If you're creating a new group, in the Details section, click Add > New group.

      1. Provide details for the name and unique identifier sections.
      2. Toggle the Restrict by catalog switch to restrict custom properties to assets in a specified catalog and select the catalog.
You can't change this setting after the group is created.
    • If a group with the Restrict by catalog setting was already created and you want to use it, click Add > Add a group and select the group.

  6. Click Create.
