Event management configuration

Authorizations needed to use event management.

You can use the event management feature both from the IBM Workload Scheduler command line interface and from the Dynamic Workload Console.

You need the following authorizations to perform event management operations from the Dynamic Workload Console:

On Dynamic Workload Console

The user ID you use to log in to Dynamic Workload Console must be defined as user in the Manage Roles section and must be defined within one of the following groups:

Groups	Event management operations you can perform
Operator	List and manage Event Rule Instances, Log Messages, and Triggered Actions.
Developer	Create, list, and manage Event Rules.

Note: Dynamic Workload Console users belonging to the Administrator group can perform all operations available in the web-based user interface.

How to get help

A new contextual help has been created to better guide you through the Dynamic Workload Console interface and its fields.

Note: If you are using Microsoft Edge, the help tool is available only on version 44.19041 or later (Chromium-based versions).

To open and start using the help tool, from the Overflow menu click Help Page Overflow menu (also known as three dots menu .

The help pane opens on the left side of the interface. To expand it, drag the right margin or select the detach icon to view the help pane in a separate window.

You can also change the font size of the topics by selecting the font size icon .

The home page shows the main topics related to the page you are navigating and three useful links that redirect you to the What’s new page, to our YouTube channel, or our Community page.

If you cannot find the information you are looking for in the main topics, you can enter a keyword in the search bar and find the information you need.

After you have performed a search, go back to previous searches by clicking the back icon back icon or go back to the home page by clicking the home icon .

Leaving the help opened and moving from a field to another to configure them, the help automatically updates itself and shows you the information about the selected field.

On IBM Workload Scheduler

The IBM Workload Scheduler user credentials defined in the engine connection must belong to a IBM Workload Scheduler user authorized to perform event management operations in the IBM Workload Scheduler security file.

You need the create permission set for the rule object. You also need the use permission on the objects (job, job stream, and so on) that you want to use as events.
