Small Programming Enhancements released in June 2017
The following features were provided with IBM® Z Workload Scheduler small programming enhancements (SPEs) released for Version 9.3, in June 2017.
- You can deploy applications from one environment to another by exporting and importing them
through ISPF panels, or by downloading the job stream definition in the Dynamic Workload Console V9.4, Fix Pack 1. You can also automate
the deployment of the application by using the Workload Automation plug-in of the IBM UrbanCode
Deploy tool.
For detailed information, see Deploying applications to another environment.
- On z-centric agents with IBM Workload Scheduler V9.4 Fix Pack 1 installed, you can use the filemonitor utility to monitor for file changes within a time interval. For detailed information, see Checking for file changes with filemonitor.
- With the Dynamic Workload Console V9.4, Fix Pack 1
the following enhancements have been implemented:
- Revamped graphical views: The same modern UX design principles applied to the graphical
view in the Workload Designer has now been applied to Job Stream View and Show Plan View.
Impact View has been merged with the Job Stream View to provide a single view from where you can analyze one or more job streams, jobs, dependencies and also analyze the impact a job stream and its jobs can have on the rest of the plan.
- Customizable Dashboard: Search filters by job name, job stream name, job stream owner, and workstation name have been added to the Dashboard.
- What-if analysis: In addition to launching the What-if analysis from a critical job in a z/OS environment, you can now also launch it from any non-critical job that is part of the critical network. Moreover, you can quickly assess impact on critical jobs by narrowing the display of successors to only critical jobs.
- In the Edit JCL panel, you can search the jobs currently listed in the Job Libraries. From this list, you can select the job whose JCL you want to copy to replace your original JCL.
- The Estimated End Time column has been added to the Monitor Jobs panel.
- Additional columns are now available when monitoring jobs on multiple engines.
- Automatic refresh has now been implemented for hyper-linked properties.
- Searching by job name has been added to several Workload Designer panels.
- Revamped graphical views: The same modern UX design principles applied to the graphical
view in the Workload Designer has now been applied to Job Stream View and Show Plan View.
- When you run EQQJOBS, the Step List is inserted in the migration JCL (EQQICNVS) only if the STEP AWARENESS indicator is set to Yes.
