Explore your options

After you have finished uploading your customer data, it’s time to get familiar with IBM®Watson™ Marketing Insights.

You can get to work as soon as the initial data import finishes. For starters, take a few minutes to see how Watson Marketing Insights presents insights about your customers and to explore how you can put those insights to use.

See what is available to you

A combination of insights and interactive charts illustrate important trends and relationships. A straightforward user interface puts all of the observations and results at your fingertips.

  • Overview Use this central space to get a comprehensive view of your customers at a glance. The Overview starts with a short list of Watson-recommended insights that Watson Marketing Insights sees as most critical to your business success. They appear in order of priority, left to right.

  • Insights Check out the Insights page to see the full collection of insights that Watson Marketing Insights generates with your customer data. Drill down into any insight to target a specific group of customers that the insight identifies. Don’t forget to filter and sort the insights to get just the information that you want.

  • Segments Create a target audience by generating a segment. You can create a segment based on an insight or build one from scratch. Publish segments to IBM Watson Campaign Automation to quickly take action with a targeted campaign based on specific attributes, behaviors, and predictions.

    After you’ve been at it for a while, return to Segments page at any time to keep track of the segments that you and others in your organization create. As you create more segments, the collection of segments provides multiple perspectives on your customers.

  • Settings This is where you can create and manage custom API keys that you will need to connect Watson Marketing Insights to other applications.

Take a tour to get familiar

Watson Marketing Insights provides a collection of guided tours to show you around and help you with a few essential tasks. Watson provides the Getting started link to access the tours.

  • You can take a tour that guides you through the steps required to create a segment from an insight. You’ll experience how you can quickly move from understanding a cognitive insight to reaching out to the affected customers.

  • Other tours show you around the Overview where, in a single view, you can see multiple aspects of how your customers are interacting with your brand.

  • You can take a tour to create a custom segment from scratch, where you have the power to select the customers to include in the segment.

  • IBM Watson Campaign Automation customers can take a tour that traces the process for publishing a segment to Watson Campaign Automation as a contact list.
