Preparations and requirements
Before you begin, you must confirm that you can access the resources and applications that you need to set up and use Watson™ Marketing Insights.
Get an IBM ID
If you already have an IBM® ID, you’re all set. You can use it to log in to IBM Watson Marketing Insights.
If you don’t yet have an IBM ID, don’t worry. The setup wizard will direct you to where you can complete the automated steps to create one.
Pod URL for your Watson Campaign Automation account
If you use Watson Campaign Automation, we'll need to know your Pod URL. To connect to your account, Watson Marketing Insights uses the URL for the Pod that is associated with your account. Contact your organization administrator to get the URL.
Refresh token
A refresh token is a string of characters that Watson Campaign Automation uses to confirm that Watson Marketing Insights is establishing a secure connection between the two applications. The refresh token is generated in Watson Campaign Automation specifically for Watson Marketing Insights. The token is unique to the connection between your accounts in each application.
Ask your organization administrator to provide a refresh token.
Customer data validation
To ensure that Watson Marketing Insights can import your customer data without error, validate the data in Watson Campaign Automation before you begin the free trial setup.
The source of the customer data can be a Watson Campaign Automation database or the parent database to a query or contact list. If fields in the source database contain invalid data, those fields will not be available for creating segments in Watson Marketing Insights because valid data will not be available. For example, invalid data might appear in Watson Marketing Insights as truncated or as null values.
To avoid such problems, you can examine the data in advance using database validation features available in Watson Campaign Automation. When you perform a database validation, Watson Campaign Automation generates a CSV file that lists the invalid data and describes the problems that it finds. You can either fix the validation errors or make certain that you do not import the specific fields that contain invalid data.
If you decide to edit the data to remove validation errors, you can use Watson Campaign Automation to upload the corrected data to the source database.
To avoid importing fields that contain invalid data, you can use the trial setup wizard to explicitly remove the invalid fields from the list of fields that are imported to Watson Marketing Insights for use in the trial.
