Testing an XML document

Test a sample XML document before exchanging it.

Before you begin

Ensure that the XML document is in an active state.

About this task

If you have samples of XML documents that webMethods B2B processes, test them to determine the following scenarios:
  • Matches exactly one XML document. The XML document types are set up correctly for the document.
  • Does not match any XML document. webMethods B2B considers such a document an unknown document type. Create a document type by using the sample document or update an existing document type to identify the document.
  • Matches more than one XML document. webMethods B2B considers the document as an unknown document type if it cannot determine which document type to use. Update the XML document types so that the document matches exactly one XML document type.
Note: webMethods B2B does not test documents against disabled document types. webMethods B2B does not process the document that you are testing. That is, webMethods B2B does not perform any preprocessing or processing actions on the document.

Procedure

  1. In webMethods B2B, from the side navigation menu, click Assets > Business documents.
  2. On the Business documents page, click Test document icon to test a document.
  3. Drag and drop the required .xml file.
    Alternatively, browse and select the required .xml file.
  4. Click Test XML.

Results

webMethods B2B displays all document types that match the sample document.
