Managing rollback asset promotions

Rollback is the process of restoring the asset's metadata in the target webMethods API Gateway instance to a previous state.

About this task

You might want to rollback assets to revert any promotional data changes being made in the target webMethods API Gateway instance. You must have the Manage promotions functional privilege that is assigned to do this task. You can roll back an asset promotion that is already available in the target stage at any time.

Procedure

  1. Open the menu options and select Manage > Promotion management.
  2. Select Rollbacks. The Rollbacks tab displays a list of available promotion histories.
  3. Click the Rollbacks icon for the promotion history that you want to roll back.
  4. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog.

What to do next

After you roll back asset promotions, you can view the rollback list and rollback details.

The Rollbacks tab displays a list of the available asset promotion rollbacks in webMethods API Gateway. The rollbacks are listed alphabetically by name.

In addition, you can also examine the details of a rollback, and delete the rollback history in the Rollbacks tab.

  1. Select Promotion management.
  2. Select Rollbacks. The Rollbacks tab displays a list of available asset promotion rollbacks.

    This tab provides the following information about each rollback:

    • Name . Name of the rollback.
    • Promotion time. The time at which the asset was promoted.
    • Rollback time. The time at which the asset promotion was rolled back.
    • Status. The status report on the rollback operation.
  3. Examine the Report link in the Status column and check for any errors that occurred during the rollback process. The Promotion status report displays the following information.
    • Asset Type. Name of the asset type that was promoted from the source instance.
    • Asset Name. Name of the asset that was promoted from the source instance.
