API Gateway, Elasticsearch, and Kibana Compatibility Matrix

As stated earlier, webMethods API Gateway uses Elasticsearch as its primary data storage. The compatible Elasticsearch versions for the API Gateway versions depend on the webMethods API Gateway data type.

webMethods API Gateway data can be broadly classified into following four types:

  • Core data. This type includes APIs, Applications, Policies, Plans, Packages, Administration Settings, Security Configurations (Keystores/Trustores) and Tokens (OAuth/API Keys).
  • Transaction data. This type includes the runtime transactions events and metrics data.
  • Application logs
  • Audit logs
Note: The support for API Data Store (embedded Elasticsearch) is deprecated and will be removed in future releases. To address security vulnerabilities and simplify upgrades, configuring an Elasticsearch is now the only supported approach.
