Starting the Customization Dialog

This topic explains how to start the Customization Dialog, which is used to customize your IBM® WebSphere® Portal environment.

Before you begin

You must have the product code installed and have access to the product data sets for both IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS® and IBM WebSphere Portal.
Restrictions:
  • Your logon display must support 3270 emulation and be set to a minimum of 32 rows by 80 columns (32 x 80) in order for the ISPF WebSphere Portal Customization Dialog to run.
  • If you have a 32-row display and use the ISPF split screen function, deselect "Always show split line" on the ISPF Settings panel to prevents the split screen line from displaying and lines in the Customization Dialog panel from being obscured. Other uses of split screen will obscure lines in the Customization Dialog.
  • If you have a 32-row display, you cannot display the PF key settings. Displaying the PF key settings will obscure lines on the Customization Dialog panels. Issue PFSHOW OFF.

About this task

Complete the following steps to start the Customization Dialog:

Procedure

  1. Type the TSO or Workstation command on the ISPF command line: ex 'hlq.sejpclib(ejpstart)' 'options', where:
    hlq
High-level qualifier for the SEJPCLIB data set of WebSphere Portal, for example ejp.
    options
Command options. Enclose any and all options in a single set of quotes.
    appl(value)
Specifies the ISPF application name. This option creates unique ISPF profiles, usually stored in the "userid.ISPF.ISPFPROF" data set, that are useful when you want to keep saved variables separate from those in other target environments. The default value is: EJP7.
Note: It is strongly recommended to always specify an ISPF application name, and not stay with the default. This allows you to easily differentiate between customization variables for different nodes.
Important: If you use an existing user ID in a new WebSphere Portal release, you might receive an error message when you attempt to load saved variables. To avoid or clear this error, you must either use a new APPL value or erase your ISPF profile.

For example, type the ex ’ejp.sejpclib(ejpstart)' 'appl(wp8c)' command.

  2. Press Enter; the copyright panel of the WebSphere Portal Customization Dialog displays.
  3. Press Enter; the WebSphere Portal Configuration for WebSphere Application Server Customization Dialog panel displays.
Note: The WebSphere Portal license agreement displays on the first invocation with a new appl ID. Press PF3 or PF12 to review and accept the license agreement.

Use this dialog to load the WebSphere Application Server configuration
data in order to install and configure WebSphere Portal for z/OS for
the first time. You must load the WebSphere data as the first step.
Afterwards, you may continue to use these panels to configure your portal.
Specify an option and press ENTER.

1 Load base configuration data from z/PMT

2 Configure WebSphere Portal for z/OS
  4. Choose option 1, and press Enter; the Load customization variables dialog displays.

You must complete this step in order to preload the WebSphere Application Server customization data before customizing WebSphere Portal. Type the fully-qualified member name of the data set member containing the WebSphere Application Server customization data created and uploaded from the z/PMT tool. For example, you might enter 'MYWAS.WASV8.DATA(PMTCELL)'.

Note: You will be prompted later for the name of the data set member
containing the WebSphere Deployment Manager settings if you are
loading the data associated with a managed node install scenario.

  5. After entering the data set name, press Enter to load the variables and return to the previous panel.
Note: Depending on the WebSphere Application Server template path that you use, you may also be prompted for the Deployment Manager values; this is a separate dataset member.
  6. Choose option 2, and press Enter; the Portal configuration panel displays.
  7. Choose one of the following options, and then press Enter:
Note for first time uses: If you are logging in for the first time, you must first define variables using the Basic configuration tasks panel before you can choose options 2, 3, 4, or 5.
    • If you choose option 1, you see the Basic configuration tasks panel. You can configure a base portal, uninstall the portal, or install and configure a feature pack.
    • If you choose option 2, you see the Advanced configuration tasks panel. You can configure a virtual portal, configure portal paths (change the Portal URI), run security configuration tasks, transfer a database, and run advanced cluster scenarios.
    • If you choose option 3, you see the Application configuration tasks panel. You can configure Productivity Components, LikeMinds samples, Web Content Manager, Personalization, and Solution Installer.
    • If you choose option 4, you see the Portal migration tasks panel. You can complete pre-upgrade actions, post-upgrade actions, WMM to VMM security migration, and post migration data updates.
    • If you choose option 5, you see the Collect diagnostics panel. You can collect diagnostic information regarding a problem or other issue with your portal. This option is always selectable, even if you have not completed option 1.
  8. Press PF3 to exit the WebSphere Portal Customization Dialog.
