EDI batching
EDI systems typically work on batch documents. EDI Batching is helpful while it delivers documents in a batch rather than delivering EDI documents to the systems in real-time as the documents are received. This feature works irrespective of the underlying inbound or outbound channel configuration for a business partner.
Batching offers the following benefits:
- Enables documents to be grouped and sent at scheduled times that are more appropriate to organizational requirements.
- Increases system performance, requiring fewer communication connections and less time that is spent on authenticating envelopes that are received individually.
- Makes working with legacy systems easier because legacy systems are batch that is oriented.
Note: The maximum size of the document in an EDI Batch Envelope or EDI Batch Group is 4 MB.
