Creating reports as CSV files

To help you gain deeper insight into analyzed content, you can generate reports from content analytics miner in comma-separated value (CSV) format, and then import the CSV file into a spreadsheet or other application.

About this task

You can generate a report that contains analysis data in CSV format. For deeper analysis, you can import the data into other applications, such as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or SPSS®, and run additional content analysis. For example, you might have a custom application that compares the statistics and helps you detect anomalies or predict trends over time.

To enhance content analytics, you can also explore a collection and then create a CSV file that contains the facet values only, without frequency counts, correlation values, or comments. You can then use the administration console to import this CSV file to create or add words and equivalent terms to a user dictionary.

Procedure

To create a report as a CSV file:

  1. Narrow the search results to the specific documents that you want to analyze. For example, you might use the Facet Pairs view to explore correlations between various car models and negative events, such as blowouts, windshield fractures, or vibrations.
  2. Click the icon to create a report.
  3. In the Create a Report window, specify that you want to create a report as a CSV file. Specify other preferences, such as the statistics that you want to include in the report and the file encoding format, and then click Submit.
Tip: To create a CSV file that contains words and equivalent terms that you want to add to a user dictionary, select Value table in the CSV file content field and ensure that the check box to show additional information as header comments is clear.
  4. Specify whether you want to open the report or save it:
    • If you want to open the report, select the application that you want to use to view it.
    • If you want to save the report, you might want to specify a descriptive name to help you remember the purpose or content of the report instead of accepting the system-generated default name.
