Exporting to a shared Windows directory

To export documents as XML files or CSV files from a Windows server to a shared directory on another Windows server, the Watson Content Analytics administrative user must be able to access the shared directory by the UNC path and have permission to read and write to the directory.

Procedure

To enable the system to export documents to a shared Windows directory:

  1. Log in as the default Watson Content Analytics administrator on the master server.
  2. Access the shared directory on the remote Windows server by specifying the UNC path in Windows Explorer. For example, to export documents to a shared directory named export on a server that has the host name remoteserver, enter \\remoteserver\export in the Windows Explorer address bar. If you cannot open the directory, log in as the Windows administrator and grant directory access permission to the Watson Content Analytics administrator ID.
  3. Create a file on the shared directory to verify that the Watson Content Analytics administrator has permission to read and write to the directory. If you cannot create a file, log in as the Windows administrator and grant read and write access permissions to the Watson Content Analytics administrator ID.
  4. After verifying that the correct access permissions are set, open the Watson Content Analytics administration console and configure settings for exporting documents. When you specify the output folder, specify the shared directory in UNC path format, such as \\remoteserver\export.
