By default, the uninstallation
program uses the same method to remove the product that you used to
install it. When you start the program, you can specify an option
to override the following default behavior and use a different method:
- If you used the graphical method to install the product, the graphical
version of the uninstallation program runs.
- If you used the console method to install the product, the console
method of the uninstallation program runs.
- If you used the silent method to install the product, the silent
method of the uninstallation program runs.
If
you remove the product by using the Windows Add
or Remove Programs function, you cannot select the method that you
want to use. The program always uses the method that was used to install
the product.
Before you remove
the product, ensure that the First Steps program is not running. If
the First Steps program is running, the installation program cannot
remove all of the program files.
Using the silent method: If you use the silent method to remove the product, you
must put a response file on each server. You must put the response
file in a directory that is not in the installation directory (
ES_INSTALL_ROOT)
or data directory (
ES_NODE_ROOT) so that the
installation and data directories can be removed.
The response
file includes a single option, which specifies whether you want to
keep or delete the configuration data in the data directory:
- DELETE_DATA_DIRECTORY=true
- Removes all program files, configuration data, and the data storage
database.
- DELETE_DATA_DIRECTORY=false
- Removes program files and preserves all configuration data in
the data directory.
To
remove the product from your system by running the Uninstall command:
