Creating a custom role in Astra DB

Use the Create custom role option to define a role with specific permissions for managing access to Astra DB resources. Custom roles allow platform administrators to enforce fine-grained access control by assigning only the permissions required for a particular user or application.

  1. In the watsonx.data console, click the name of Astra DB service (either from list or topology view). Database details page opens.

  2. Click the Create custom role button. In the Role name field, enter a descriptive name for the role.

  3. In the Add permissions section, select the permissions that you want to assign to the role.

  4. Review the selected permissions to ensure they meet your access requirements.

  5. Click Create custom role to create the role.

  6. Use Cancel or Close to exit without saving changes.
