Connecting to Db2 for i on IBM Power Systems
Db2 for i is IBM’s integrated relational database that is built into the IBM i operating system, which runs exclusively on IBM Power Systems. Unlike stand-alone databases, Db2 for i is not a separate product. It is fully embedded within IBM i and uses the advanced architecture and performance optimizations of IBM Power hardware. Before you begin
- Presto engine is provisioned in watsonx.data.
- Db2 for i database server is running on IBM i.
- Required ports are open: 8471 for non-SSL or 9471 for SSL connections.
- SSL/TLS is configured (recommended for production environments).
- The IBM i user profile has the necessary authorities to access the database objects.

Procedure
To connect watsonx.data to Db2 for I, complete the following steps:
- Log in to watsonx.data console.
- From the navigation menu, select Infrastructure manager.
- To define and connect a data source, click Add component.
- In the Add component window, select Db2 for IBM i from the Data source section.
- Click Next.
