Completing the installation
After finishing the setup process, do the following:
- Navigate to the watsonx.data Control section on the IBM watsonx.data developer edition Installer page.
- Expand the After set up section.
- Accessing the user interface

- Run the command in Step 1 to initialize access.
- Open the URL provided in Step 2 to launch the watsonx.data home page in your browser. The watsonx.data home page includes the following sections:
- Infrastructure Manager - Interface for defining and associating engines, catalogs, and storage.
- Data Manager - Interface for ingesting, previewing, and managing data.
- Query Workspace - SQL editor for writing, running, and saving queries.
- Pods and Containers - Kubernetes-based deployment units that run the
platform services.Note: You can use the Presto engine with both Hive and Iceberg catalogs for seamless data querying.Click Infrastructure Manager to view the components that are configured by default.
- Managing watsonx.data developer edition environment
- Use the following features to streamline the system and efficiently utilize resources without
rerunning the installer.
- Start watsonx.data: Start the essential components required to run watsonx.data.
- Stop watsonx.data: Stops the background services and the virtual machine powering watsonx.data. Free up CPU, memory, and system resources when you are not actively working in the environment.
- Start KIND Cluster: Restart the watsonx.data environment after a system reboot. .
- Stop KIND Cluster: Stops the watsonx.data environment by stopping the internal Kubernetes cluster. Use this option to reduce resource usage.
- Exposing MinIO and MDS (Optional)
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable MinIO and MDS. For information about exposing MinIO, see Accessing the MinIO service and for information about exposing MDS, see Exposing Metadata Service ports.
