Make sure that all the prerequisites are met before you install Z Understand.

CPU, RAM, and storage requirements

  • CPU: 4 cores
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Disk: 500 GB
  • Linux® on IBM Z®: 2 Integrated Facility for Linux (IFLs)

Supported platforms and versions

  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 8 or later on an AMD64 system.
  • 2.4.10+ Ubuntu 22.04 LTS on an AMD64 system.
  • 2.6.0+ Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 8 or later on Linux on IBM Z.

Prerequisite software

  • Required tools and packages
    • podman
    • podman-plugins package (RHEL only)
    • openssl command
    • keytool command (from Java™ 8 or higher Runtime Environment)
  • Z Understand
  • Supported Internet browsers
    • Google Chrome (recommended)
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Microsoft Edge
Note: IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z Visual Studio Code extension v2.7.20 or later is required for IBM® watsonx Code Assistant™ for Z Understand.
