Using chat history

If you have already generated code using natural language chat conversations, these chats are saved into the chat history. You can restart a conversation at any point using the chat history.

To use the chat history:

  1. In the WATSONX CODE ASSISTANT: CHAT window, use the hamburger icon to navigate to the Chat sessions option.

    The WATSONX CODE ASSISTANT: CHAT window lists all previous chat conversations. Observe that a unique number is assigned to each chat session.

  2. Navigate to the chat session that you want to reopen and click it. The WATSONX CODE ASSISTANT: CHAT window displays the details of the selected chat session.
  3. Select the message where IBM® watsonx Code Assistant™ for Z generated the last good result.

    Click on the ellipsis menu on the chat conversation and select the Start new chat option to start a new chat session.

Managing chat history

To rename or delete a saved chat session:

  1. In the WATSONX CODE ASSISTANT: CHAT window, use the hamburger icon to navigate to the Chat sessions option.

    The WATSONX CODE ASSISTANT: CHAT window lists all previous chat conversations. Observe that each chat session has an ellipsis menu.

  2. Using the ellipsis menu, you can perform the following actions on that chat session:
    • Rename: Use this option to rename the chat session. Renaming allows you to easily identify the chat in the chat history.
    • Delete: Use this option to delete the chat session.
  3. You can delete multiple chat sessions by clicking the Select chats icon and selecting the chat sessions that you want to delete. Click the Delete icon to delete all selected chats.
