Creating document classifiers

Use document classifiers to identify document types, such as invoices or contracts, and automatically classify documents using AI capabilities. Add sample documents to test the document classifier so it can recognize the document types you need.

Note:Document Classifier is currently in Beta. You can create a document classifier skill and use it to preview classification results, but you cannot share this skill or publish it for use in workflows or in the chat. Because it is a beta, it's best to create a new project to test this skill.

Creating a document classifier skill

  1. From the menu Menu, select Skill studio.

  2. Click Create and select Project.

  3. From the New project screen, name your project, describe your project, and click Create.

  4. Select the Document processor skill type.

  5. Select Document classifier.

  6. Name and describe your skill, and click Create.

Creating classes and uploading documents

  1. In the Classes panel, click Add class and enter the name of the document class you want to identify, for example "invoices".

You can add up to 10 classes to identify.

  2. In the Test Classifier panel, upload up to 5 documents. Supported formats are PDF, DOCX, PPTX, JPG, PNG, and TIFF. Each document must not exceed a size of 10 MB.

It might take some time to upload the documents. The more pages a document has, the longer it takes to process.

  3. Your documents are automatically classified and you can see the predicted class next to each document. Documents that have a different class from the ones you defined in Classes are classified as Other. You cannot remove this class.

If you are missing a class, you can add it anytime and the current documents will be reprocessed accordingly. When you delete, edit, or add a class, all documents are reprocessed.

  1. To delete a skill, from the menu Overflow menu, click Delete this skill.
